Thinking Hub for teachers

Thinking Hub provides schools with all the resources they need to hone students’ skills of authentic critical thinking, explore the nature of knowledge within different subjects, and link learning to the real world.

Our resources can be easily plugged into your curriculum, and can be used to support students as they create their project qualifications, such as the HPQ or EPQ.

A Thinking Hub membership will enable your school to…

1. Implement a meaningful, measurable critical thinking programme

Our practical, clear, classroom-tested resources are based on the simple principle of helping students to identify their own assumptions about the world, and developing the courage and skills to challenge these via real-world situations, key concepts, and influential thinkers.

Students will understand exactly what it means to become an authentic critical thinker, and will be able to self-evaluate their progress, before creating a final product that offers tangible proof of their abilities, and set them apart from other students.

2. Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in your school

Helping students to become authentic critical thinkers will empower and enfranchise them, regardless of the background they come from, or the prior educational experiences they have had.

They will also understand that the relationship between knowledge and values is an indivisible one, and that having an understanding of different perspectives is essential as we attempt to make sense of events going on in the world, and the ethical implications they present.

3. Run a critical thinking-based extended project

Our resources draw on real-world events, issues, and topics, which means they can be used both to promote authentic critical thinking and to oversee students carrying out their EPQs, HPQs, or other project qualifications.

Whether they are writing an extended essay or creating an artifact, we’ll help your students to hit the assessment targets, and provide them with ideas on topics they can explore, and entry points that will enable them to create an original and rich final assessment product.

4. Set up a learning framework that supports inter-disciplinary thinking

Authentic critical thinking is based on a learning framework that enables students to compare and contrast different knowledge within different subject areas, and avoid developing a silo mentality to the world.

This interdisciplinary approach prompts students to ask questions across the different subject areas such as, what is the relationship between values and knowledge? How is knowledge shaped by perspectives? How and why is new knowledge produced?

5. Introduce students to genuinely life-changing ideas and thinkers

Students will encounter ideas and concepts within our resources that will provide them with profound new insights into the world, and they’ll meet thinkers from the past and the present who will inspire and challenge them.

We want to help you turn your students into nuanced, objective, open-minded knowers of the world, who will become active and positive members of the epistemic community. We can’t wait for them to begin!
