Investigating Issues

Investigating Issues curates over 150 major global issues, provides a diverse collection of media sources to explore each one, and offers question and unpacking suggestions to link them to learning, and develop authentic critical thinking skills.

The issues they feature, and the support they provide you to explore them in a critical way, are perfect for helping you create a portfolio, HPQ, or EPQ.

Accessing Investigating Issues

Investigating Issues is available to Full Access members of the site, but non-members can download a free sample here. We update the resource every month, by adding new media sources to the different issues.

Using Investigating Issues to create mini-depth studies

You can use Investigating Issues to download the individual issues as PDF documents, and create ‘mini-depth studies’. These can then be shared with students, who can use them to create their ACT portfolios, EPQs, or HPQs, or your own critical thinking final products.

Below you can see an example of mini-depth studies we’ve created, all from the main Investigating Issues presentations. You could potentially create 130 other mini-depth studies in the same way! Remember, we update the resource very month, so check back regularly to make sure you’re using the very latest version of the resource.
